POST: TAX MANAGEMENT OFFICER II – 22 POST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 i.To assist in the preparation of action plans.

ii. To conduct face vetting of tax returns.

iii.    To conduct desk audit on simple cases and assist in field audits.
iv.    To conduct physical and compliance surveillance surveys.
v.    To prepare respective periodic management reports.
vi.    To gather information for new taxpayers’ registrations.
vii.    To prepare tax positions for all taxpayers and arrears list and follow up payments.
viii.    To conduct face vetting of application for tax exemptions, relief, refunds, motor vehicle and driver’s license application.
ix.    To process annual motor vehicle licenses renewal, transfers of       ownership and issue the licenses.
x.    To perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
xi.    To conduct registration, Audit, Data Processing and Examination.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

POST: TAX INVESTIGATION OFFICER – II – 2 POST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i.    To investigate tax offences, frauds, evasions and breach of Tax Laws.
ii.    To conduct and document interviews in the form of statements.
iii.    To establish violation of tax laws and prepare investigation or prosecution report.
iv.    To conduct surveillance in areas prone to tax evasion
v.    To recommend enforcement for recovery of evaded tax.
vi.    To conduct search and seizure and gather evidence.
vii.    To verify and analyse documents and data.
viii.    To assist in implementing plans and strategies to counter abuse of tax    exemptions and recovery of tax arising from such abuse.
ix.    To assist in Verification of the utilization of the exemptions granted to specified beneficiaries.
x.    To appear before the court of laws as a prosecution witness against tax defaulters.
xi.    To perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i.    To carry out tax assessments in respect of small passengers’ accompanied baggage at Ports, Airports and Border stations.
ii.    To attend to public/customer grievances concerning customs operations.
iii.    To carry out instructions as may be directed by the customs officer – preventive.
iv.    To perform preventive duties at Airport, Seaport, Gates, Customs Warehouse, Transit stations, Dry port and all other Customs contacted areas.
v.    To conduct examination of passenger’s baggage.
vi.    To carry out rummaging of marine vessels and aircraft.
vii.    To control imports, export and transit goods.
viii.    To carry out documentary verification
ix.    To prepare enquiries and offence files
x.    To assess and value goods.
xi.    To release goods after payment of duties.
xii.    To prepare various returns for Customs & Excise Headquarters.
xiii.    To provide information for preparation of Management reports (various).

POST: TAX MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT II – 8 POST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i.    To process application for new taxpayers’ registration and facilitate issuance of Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN).
ii.    To manage return filing processes including identifying none and late filers.
iii.    To manage tax assessments control records such as tax assessments levels, assessments in arrears and jeopardy cases.
iv.    To prepare tax returns, assessments and revenue collection reports.
v.    To process non-account cases returns including withholding tax statements.
vi.    To trace missing taxpayers’ files.
vii.    To prepare tax clearance certificates, registration of Motor Vehicles, issuance of Motor Vehicle annual licenses, issuance and renewal of drivers’ licenses.
viii.    To manage objections and appeals controls such as Registers and Tax Stand over Orders.
ix.    To gather and file tax information.
x.    To assist in conducting physical and compliance surveillance surveys
xi.    To prepare cases for enforcement activities.
xii.    To perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

POST: CUSTOMS ASSISTANT II – 7 POST

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i.    To receive documents from Wharf, retain copies of the same.
ii.    To receive requests for scanning from Importer/Clearing Agents.
iii.    To scan the consignment information documents that is, CVR, Packing List, BL and Invoice, and completes the dataset with information regarding the Container/Consignment and ensures the information is timely and accurately posted in to the x-ray scanner database.
iv.    To inform the Importers/Agents scanning result of their containers.
v.    To provide report to in Charge Officer of the documents received, consignments scanned and those not scanned within the set timeframe and the reason thereof.
vi.    To assign the correct data set to be associated with the Containers to be scanned.
vii.    To inform Receptionist Operator and System Operator when a clear image has been received.
viii.    To maintain a log of Images that has been scanned.
ix.    To perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.
x.    To examine goods.
xi.    To enter the Data into the Customs System.
xii.    To maintain field records in the Customs system.
xiii.    To release goods when physical verification conforms.
xiv.    To keep records and maintain documents.
xv.    To check transit documents and shipping orders for bond cancellations.
xvi.    To perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

i.    To receive, interview and direct visitors accordingly.

v.    To receive and make telephone calls.

  • Holders of Diploma in Secretarial Studies/Computer Studies or equivalent qualifications from recognised institution who have passed Shorthand (English) and Hati Mkato (Kiswahili) at a speed of 80 words per minute with computer knowledge in MS-Word, MS-Excel, Internet, Email, MS-Publisher from a recognized institution.
