After the Confederation of African Football (CAF) named Simba head coach Didier Gomes as unfit to sit on Simba's technical bench in a Champions League match due to lack of qualifications, the team's leadership emerged and provided clarification. Gomes holds (UEFA A Diploma) and according to Federal regulations they require a coach to have a CAF A or UEFA PRO LICENCE. The chairman of the Lions Club, Murtaza Mangungu said the arrival of the report to them is not new as their coach has already started reading. "We are not shocked by the information as it was only a matter of time before we were informed by the coach that he decided to study online and we believe that until our game is played the coach will have graduated," he said. "We are looking forward to playing our first match between October 22 and 24 so based on the stage he has reached we believe he will be able to meet the criteria so he will be on the bench as usual," he says.
